'We've fired a shot at Team India': New Zealand captain Tom Latham after historic series win

NEW DELHI: In a remarkable achievement, the New Zealand cricket team, led by captain Tom Latham, secured a historic 2-0 Test series victory against India. This triumph ended India’s impressive streak of 18 unbeaten series at home, a record that stood as a testament to their dominance on their own soil.
Latham, in his post-match reflections, emphasized the significance of adopting an aggressive approach and the fortune of winning crucial tosses.
He stated, “We’ve played a style where we’ve fired a shot at India and we’ve been on the right side of a couple of tosses as well, that has been really important.”The New Zealand captain further elaborated on his team’s strategy, highlighting the importance of taking the initiative from the outset.
“We’ve wanted to compete and wanted to fire a shot first up. We’ve done that in both games, with the ball in the first game but also with the bat here, being able to put first innings runs on the board has been really important,” Latham explained.

Latham also acknowledged the vital role played by the bowlers in securing the victory, expressing his satisfaction with their performance over the last couple of days.

He attributed the team’s success to a combination of factors, including the favorable outcome of the tosses, particularly in the second Test in Bangalore.
The series is set to conclude with the third and final Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, scheduled from November 1 to 5.
