New Delhi: Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant on Wednesday took his mother’s blessings before departing for Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Pant concluded the recent three-Test series against New Zealand as the top scorer. He achieved this feat by scoring two half-centuries in the Mumbai Test.
Pant on Wednesday also jumped five places to grab 6th spot in the latest ICC Test batting rankings.

Pant scored 261 runs in six innings, averaging 43.50 runs per innings. He scored three half-centuries and his highest score was 99.
Prior to the New Zealand series, Pant returned to Test cricket with a century against Bangladesh. He scored 161 runs in two Tests and averaged 53.66.
India’s chances of reaching the World Test Championship final are in jeopardy after a series defeat caused their points percentage to drop.
The team’s percentage fell to 58.33%, placing them second behind Australia in the World Test Championship standings. This decline makes the upcoming five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia crucial for India’s hopes.
To remain in contention for the championship, India needs to win at least four of the five matches. The outcome of other series could also impact India’s chances.
