Understanding Parivartana Yoga in Vedic Astrology
Parivartana Yoga is an important concept in Vedic astrology. This occurs when two planets in a person’s birth chart exchange signs—each planet placed in a sign ruled by the other planet, thus creating some sort of mutual exchange, or “yoga.” Suppose Mars happens to fall into Virgo, a sign ruled by Mercury, and Mercury turns out to be in Aries, a sign ruled by Mars. That would create Parivartana Yoga between Mars and Mercury. Depending on the houses involved, such exchanges can have major effects on a person’s life.
Types of Parivartana Yoga
Parivartana Yoga is mainly divided into three types:
Maha Parivartana Yoga : The planets that rule “Kendra” or the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses, are exchanged with the planets that rule “Trikona” or the 1st, 5th, and 9th houses. This is usually regarded as very favourable. Success, stability, and prosperity can come as a result of this because these houses are both powerful and positive.Dainya Parivartana Yoga : When a benefic house is interchangeably related to one of the “Dusthana” houses. These are exceptionally the 6th, 8th, or 12th house and are considered to be related to adversities such as disease, debts, and losses. Therefore, Dainya Parivartana might relate to struggles or stress; at the same time, this could turn into an area of growth and resilience.- Khala Parivartana Yoga: This involves two “Upachaya” houses. The Upachaya houses are the 3rd, 6th, 10th, and 11th, representing gradual growth; hence, the exchange is supposed to realise benefits in due course. It is mixed, both good and challenging, as these houses are associated with competition and advancement.
