India’s home dominance: Full list of 18 series and 42 matches wins | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: India’s remarkable winning streak in home Test series lasted 4331 days – a record unmatched by any other team. South Africa hold the next best record, with their last series loss occurring 1,733 days ago in 2020.
Over the course of 4331 days, India played 18 Test series, emerging victorious in all and winning 42 out of the 53 matches they contested. Seven matches resulted in no result, while they suffered four losses during this period.
However, New Zealand on Saturday ended India’s 12-year long dream run by inflicting 113-run defeat in the second Test in Pune for their maiden series victory on India soil.
New Zealand became the first team since England in 2012 to defeat India in a Test series at home. This marks only the fourth time India have lost two Tests in a home series since 1983.
Additionally, it is the first time since 1983 that India have lost three or more Tests at home in a calendar year, having already been defeated by England in Hyderabad earlier this year.
