Heinrich Klaasen names Suryakumar Yadav as the GOAT of T20 cricket | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: In a candid conversation, explosive South African batter Heinrich Klaasen opened up about some of the shots that have left a mark on him in T20 cricket.
When asked who he considered to be the greatest of all time (GOAT) in the format, Klaasen didn’t hesitate, naming Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav as the standout player.
“I would say good one. I would say SKY, probably,” Klaasen told JioCinema, clearly impressed by Surya’s flair and consistency in T20 cricket.
The discussion then shifted to shots, and Klaasen was asked if there was any shot he wished he could borrow from another batter, past or present. His answer was an intriguing combination.
“It will be a combination of the scoop of AB de Villiers and SKY,” he said, referencing two of the game’s most innovative and destructive players.

Klaasen, known for his attacking style, admitted there was one particular shot that always intrigued him, but one he was hesitant to play.
“The one that SKY plays over final,” Klaasen said, referring to his trademark shot over the fine leg, a stroke that seems to defy the conventional limits of T20 batting. “Don’t like getting into line too much,” he added with a laugh.
The four-match T20I series between India and South Africa is currently tied at 1-1. India secured a 61-run win in the opening match, but South Africa responded strongly in the second game, clinching a three-wicket victory.
