Haris Rauf runs amok! Pakistan pacer rips Australia apart with five wickets | Cricket News
Haris Rauf gave Pakistan the best chance to level the series against Australia in Adelaide as the right-arm pacer ran through the hosts’ middle-order with a five-wicket spell in the 2nd ODI on Friday.
Rauf’s 5 for 29 never let Australia settle after Shaheen Shah Afridi removed openers Matthew Short (19) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (13) cheaply. He finished with figures of 3 for 26.
Australia were bowled out for 163 in 35 overs with Steve Smith’s 35 the top score. The former Australia captain edged one from Mohammad Hasnain, which was safely pouched by wicketkeeper and Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan.
Rizwan ended up with six victims in the match, all caught.
Following their narrow defeat in the first match, visiting skipper Rizwan opted to field first after winning the toss on a bouncy, grass-covered pitch.
Rauf completed his second five-wicket haul in ODIs by dismissing Australia captain Pat Cummins (13) caught behind.
He started his wicket-taking spree by sending back Josh Inglis (18) and then hurt the Aussies further with the wickets of the experienced Marnus Labuschagne (6) and Aaron Hardie (14).
Glenn Maxwell was looking good, having reached 16 off 20 balls, but Rauf cleaned him up next ball to further dent the hosts.
