‘Beautiful sight’: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah hails Team India seniors | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), expressed his delight at seeing senior members of the Indian men’s team participating in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and sharing valuable insights with young and emerging cricketers in their state teams.
“Great to see high competition and intensity in our premier domestic T20 competition, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, with senior members of the Indian Cricket Team participating and playing alongside the future generation, sharing insights and learnings from their international careers,” Shah wrote on his ‘X’ account.
“It’s a beautiful sight to see this side of the Indian domestic circuit where knowledge sharing and learning takes up a primary role, churning out the best in our players! @BCCIdomestic,” he added.
Among the standout performances, swashbuckling batter Ishan Kishan smashed nine sixes in a blistering 23-ball unbeaten 77, powering Jharkhand to a commanding 10-wicket win over Arunachal Pradesh.
In Rajkot, India pacer Mohammed Shami had a brief injury scare during Bengal’s Group A clash against Madhya Pradesh at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. MP secured a six-wicket victory, restricting Bengal to 189 for nine, with Shivam Shukla returning impressive figures of 4/29.
Skipper Rajat Patidar (68 off 40 balls) and Subhranshu Senapati (50 off 33 balls) struck fluent half-centuries to guide MP to a comfortable win.
However, it was Shami’s injury scare that grabbed the headlines. While bowling the penultimate over of MP’s innings, Shami fell while attempting to stop the ball and appeared to be hit on his boots. The pacer, returning from a long injury layoff, seemed uncomfortable and was seen holding his lower back while lying on the ground.
