‘Always in my heart…’: Ishan Kishan bids emotional farewell to Mumbai Indians | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: Ishan Kishan had been an integral part of Mumbai Indians (MI) since joining the franchise in 2018. His aggressive batting and reliable wicket-keeping made him a standout player, often opening the batting or playing in the middle order.
But five-time IPL champions MI did not retain the swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter ahead of the two-day mega-auction in Jeddah.
IPL Auction: SRH go big to bring in Ishan Kishan
MI retained Jasprit Bumrah (Rs 18 crore), Suryakumar Yadav (Rs 16.35 crore), Hardik Pandya (Rs 16.35 crore), Rohit Sharma (Rs 16.30 crore) and Tilak Varma (Rs 18 crore)
At the IPL 2025 auction, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 11.25 crore.
On Thursday, Kishan shared an emotional post looking back at his time MI.
Taking to Instagram, Kishan wrote, “So many memories with all of you, so many moments of joy, happiness and growth. MI, Mumbai, and the paltan will always remain in my heart. I’ve grown as a person and a player with all of you by my side. We say goodbye with memories that will stay with me for life. Thank you to the management, coaches, the players I’ve played with and all you fans for always being in my corner.”
Mumbai Indians started the bidding for Kishan at his pace price of Rs 2 crore but didn’t go beyond Rs 3.20 crore. Delhi Capitals, looking for a wicketkeeper-batter after Rishabh Pant wasn’t retained, were in an intense bidding war with Punjab Kings before SRH joined the action late and got his services.
Kishan’s acquisition by SRH is expected to boost their batting lineup as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
