Afghanistan vs New Zealand Test washed out without ball being bowled at Greater Noida | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The one-off Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand has been abandoned due to continuous rainfall in Greater Noida, near New Delhi. For five consecutive days, persistent rain prevented any play, not even the toss.
Officials made the final decision on Friday, marking this as the eighth time in Test cricket history that a match was called off without a single ball being bowled. The match was to be held at Afghanistan’s adopted home ground.
In an official announcement, the Afghanistan Cricket Board stated, “It is still raining in Greater Noida and due to frequent rains, the 5th and final day of the Afghanistan vs New Zealand Test has also been called off by the match officials.”
The washout is disappointing for both teams, especially for Afghanistan, as they were looking forward to competing against a higher-ranked team.
